Wyoming
Wyoming
We arrived in Wyoming expecting big things ... this was after all the state which primarily hosts the United State's first National Park, Yellowstone. Sadly, it didn't turn out to be the highlight that we'd hoped, although it seems clear that we would need to spend more time here in order to see its true beauty.

After a day taking in the tourist view of Yellowstone, we had intended to do a back-country trek to see some of the more remote waterfalls in the park. However, when we got to the camp site the night before we were attacked by a swarm of mosquitos which resulted in us screaming out of there and heading to Grand Teton National Park early.

The Teton mountains are stunning and the alpine setting is so unusual in this state that you'd be forgiven for thinking that you were walking hand-in-hand with Heidi in the European Alps. The long road-trip was tiring us at this stage and we probably didn't do the park justice, but this latter part was the highlight for us.
