Tanzania
Home to some amazing safari wildlife viewing and an iconic African mountain with rapidly melting glaciers. This was the place I wanted to travel for my 30th birthday, hopefully blowing the candles out on the cake at the summit ... that was the plan.

The trip was primarily focussed on Kilimanjaro, but in retrospect the safari was equally as enjoyable and much more of an adventure than we'd anticipated. If you can afford it, the two trips combined together work fantastically well, seeing two of Tanzania's premium offerings in one trip. If you can time it properly, doing the safari during the wet-season migration is reported to be a very special experience. We were a little late, but it was still stunning.

There's more to explore on the coast we suspect including the capital city and the island of Zanzibar, but whether we'll get back is another question.
