Snowboarding
Do we learn to ski or snowboard? That was the question we pondered many years ago. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but ultimately snowboarding came out top. It has a steeper and more painful learning curve at the beginning, but the shorter time needed to get off-piste and the simpler jumping fun you can have made it the right decisions for us.

Our snowboarding travel map is looking a bit biased towards western North America! This is largely to do with our time spent living in California, but that aside, we do enjoy the conditions over there ... mountains with lots of tree runs, lack of crowded pistes, modern lifts, etc.

Not featured on the site is our time spent learning to snowboard in Tignes, France. There was no time for cameras back then. It was a military schedule of trying to get competent ASAP and losing half a day to the lessons. But it surely kick-started a wonderful pastime.

Heli-boarding (Period). I mean getting dropped off by chopper rather than ski lift is the way to do it!
Hitting a patch of wet slush whilst snowboarding in the rain and nearly somersaulting.
