We only had time to make one trip to see Sierra at Tahoe, and from what we saw, it seemed to check all of the right boxes from a boarding enjoyment point of view. It was very busy though, which might have something to do with the fact that it is the most accessible resort approaching Lake Tahoe from the south on Highway 50.

There was nothing particularly striking about Sierra. We found some nice powder tree areas on the backside called 'the Circuit', and there's a decent long run if you board all the way from the top of Grandview to the bottom of West Bowl. But a lot of the pistes are quite strictly defined by the tightly cut trees and I got the feeling of 'You'll board where we tell you to board!'.

One eye opener was Sierra's impressive terrain park and its resident local jump meisters, who made our efforts look like pathetic bunny hops. The terrain park is perfectly located down the course of the Short Stuff lift, which makes for some enjoyable viewing as you travel to the top.

All in all, not a bad resort, but not one of our top Tahoe favourites.
