We got to the stage in life where our combined salaries warranted blowing a stupid amount of money on a brand new two seater sports convertible, namely the Honda S2000. This car was fairly new to the market back then and we were considering other possibilities also such as the BMW Z3, Audi TT, and Alfa Spider GT.

We visited our local Honda showroom and arranged for a test drive. They let us have the keys with concerned hesitation since it was raining outside and we looked a bit irresponsible. Our first experience with the S2000 was memorable whanging it up and down muddy country lanes and turning heads down the high street. After giving it back, we went away for a drink and thought about it for about 20 seconds. No further consideration was necessary, we wanted the S2000 for ourselves.

Returning to the showroom, one of the sales guys quipped 'Have you come back to wash the mud off the S2000 you borrowed?' ... 'No my good man, I've come back to buy it!'
