Australia's reputation for being home to some of the world's most lethal creatures is in part due to places like this. Whilst not big and physically powerful, they have many dangerous creatures which can pack a nasty or even lethal punch.

Queensland lies in the northern half of Australia slap bang in the tropical belt. Consequently the warmth, sunshine and tropical rains means everything grows very happily and some small critters decide to brew toxic poison strong enough to take down a horse!

Our first taste of this state was a mouth-watering sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands. Absolutely fantastic and thoroughly recommended to all who fancy it.

Still lots more to see. On the must-do shopping list is a scuba diving live-aboard on the Great Barrier Reef and as far north as we can get into Cairns, Daintree and Cape Tribulation, maybe further.
