Point Reyes National Seashore is about a two hour drive north of San Francisco. Think of it as the perfect off the beaten track, Californian, Pacific coast experience. A bit like Route-1, minus the tarmac and constant stream of Ford Mustang convertibles.

The drive north is very scenic and quintessentially northern California passing over the Golden Gate Bridge, into Marin County and then driving along the Shoreline Highway to Point Reyes.

We took our mountain bikes here to power pedal through the criss-cross of trails. For those wanting a leisurely biking day out, it doesn't get much better than this. We biked along the Bear Valley Trail which is very popular and not difficult to see why

Some of the coastal views are spectacular on a bright sunny day ... real postcard material. Then when you head inland, you experience a mixture of heathland, woods, and forestry trails.

Perfect biking country ... would definitely recommend it.
