Peru
As part of our 7-week honeymoon agenda, we headed to the Peruvian tourist mecca that is Cusco to see the city and explore the local ruins. Following that we embarked on a 7-day trek to Machu Picchu via the lesser-known Salcantay Trail and the very well known Inca Trail. For us the start of the trail ended up being the highlight.

We really enjoyed our time in Peru. Lima city was a bit crazy and we only got a brief glimpse of that, but the rest of the country was very laid back and the people seemed to lead a happy, simple way of life.

The beverage of choice in Peru is coca leaf tea - no wonder the people are laid back! We had many cups of this tea, initially out of curiosity but later as an aid for altitude acclimatisation. It's good stuff!

We were hoping to see Lake Titicaca also but that will have to be another time.
