When it comes to travel and adventure, the highlights are usually already well known and protected by the associated country's government within designated National Parks. Just as well since most of these places are national treasures and if Joe Bloggs got his hands on them, they'd be lost forever.

There are a number of exceptions to this rule and that is where the land is owned and managed by local tribes (examples being Monument Valley and Havasupai). In most cases though, the government has a tight grip on these tourist attractions and the emphasis is on preservation ... hooray!

We have visited our fair share of National Parks and find them to be the highlight of a country since they represent raw beauty and unspoiled natural splendour.
