Venture as far north-west in England as you can (and I mean truly north, not like those folk in Manchester claiming to be 'proper northern like') and you'll come across one of the most scenic areas in Blighty; that being the Lake District in Cumbria.
This is where my roots lie having spent my younger life there ... and it's only now, having grown up and seen a bit of the world, that I truly appreciate the scenery on offer and make an effort to get out there and see some of it. One day I'm hoping to put together a comprehensive Lake District web site, but walking all of the hills as Wainwright did will take much time.
The meld of rugged hills, lakes, wildlife, and infinite greenery is always a great visual combination and there's lots to see. The problem these days, however, is that it rains so damn much (hence the greenery) so it's a small miracle to get a nice day for a good view from the hill tops. Consequently, getting good pictures is a nightmare when you only make occasional trips back there. So in summary, I've lumped all of our Lake District pictures together in one collection below and I'll just keep adding to it as and when we get more.
