Not so many pictures of Kirkwood unfortunately. Back in the early days, we were too distracted by the novelty of snowboarding on your back doorstep to worry about getting many memory snapshots.

Kirkwood has a cult reputation and a strong local following. Being the most southerly of the Tahoe labelled resorts, it's a little bit tricky to get to, and consequently it does not see much tourist traffic.

I get the impression we didn't visit Kirkwood enough to see all of its treasures. During early season, part of the resort was not open so I know we've missed part of it ... and there was something about Kirkwood that reminded me of our other favourite California boarding resorts of Mammoth and Homewood; that being the fact that you're on a groomed mountain, but you can still find parts that make you feel like you're in a remote wilderness.

Of special mention is a river gully run on the left side of the trail map (now that I look back at it, I can't pinpoint the actual run, but I think it may have been The Drain?) which Stuart and myself spent an entire afternoon boarding again and again. Awesome!

We'll revisit Kirkwood on our next visit. Seems like we missed too much.
