Without a doubt the most awesome vista the United States of America has to offer ... the Grand Canyon is in a league of its own when it comes to vast deep gorges and viewing the effect that erosion has had over a six million year period.

It's a real shame we didn't have our big boy camera for this trip as the scenery is amazing and we only captured part of it ... anyway, makes a good excuse to go back there again.

We visited the most touristy section at Grand Canyon village on the south rim during a whistle-stop tour with our good friends Rob and Helen. Not being ones to sit around in cafes drinking coffee at the site of one of the wonders of the world, we embarked on a turbo yomp down the South Kaibab Trail. We didn't have time to go to the Colorado river at the bottom, so we made do with getting as far as we could and just enjoying the spectacular scenery.

Next time we'll probably try and get on one of the Colorado river rafting trips which look top banana. Rumour has it that there can be over a one year waiting list to get on these trips since numbers are limited.
