For some, fast cars are just a pointless piece of expensive machinery, but to others they are the most exciting, heart pumping, adrenaline coursing experience. This is epitomised by mad Italian supercars whose very purpose in life is to coax the driver into blurting out obscenities and blasphemy as they drop the pedal to the floor.

Our experience to date with fast exotic cars has been fairly limited since it's not a cheap hobby. Opening an insurance renewal letter for one of these beasts can be enough to reduce a grown man to tears.

These cars are certainly not the easiest things to rely on as a vehicle for every day use. The stiff suspension can prove tiring when you're commuting 60 miles to work every day, and there's always some idiot in a rep. car that wants to race you at the traffic lights and you feel obliged to make a mockery of them. If you can afford it, they're best kept as weekend fun cars.
