As part of our roadtrip planning for the drive from Sydney to Brisbane, I wanted to mix it up a little bit and not take the standard 'Highway 1' route all the way up. A friend recommended checking out the some of the inland towns that rest on top of the northern NSW tablelands. Looking at the map for these areas, I was gleeful at the prospect of driving along a road called 'Thunderbolt's Way'. How cool does that sound? Is it traversable by car, or does one need to gallop along it on a sweaty stallion?
Cruickshanks Farmstay jumped out at me after a few Google searches with an excellent web site and some great pictures of the surrounding countryside. Generally speaking, we have found in the past that those who go to the effort of presenting an impressive virtual web presence tend to have the same attention to detail in the physical offering, and that was certainly true here.
We had a peaceful and enjoyable stay in the Cottage. There wasn't really any organised farm activities to take part in, but it was nice to walk amongst their animals in the fields and unwind in this sleepy part of the world.
