Bear Valley is a relatively small resort deep in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It's quite difficult to get to from the populous California areas, and as such it doesn't usually feature on the regular tourist itinerary, so you can expect mostly locals as your skiing companions.

On our single visit, we were blessed by whiteout conditions and powder to die for. So much so, we would boarding a long run, ski-lift back to the top, and then coming back down again you'd find your previous tracks pretty much covered up! Awesome.

The downside to a day like this is it makes visibility a bit of an issue. At points on steep descents, it was like falling down through clouds and quilts with absolutely no idea of your angle, speed, or direction. You really needed to be able to 'use the force Luke!'

As such, there's not many photos ... sorry. Nice resort though, off the beaten track.
